Possibilities of using AI were discussed at the Plenary Assembly of Judges
On 08.06.2023, the Plenary Assembly of Judges was held in Narva. For the Estonian judges it is the main event of the year where topical problems of the legal system are discussed, the best and most senior colleagues are recognized and the governing bodies of judges are elected. This year, the main theme of the event was the future of the judiciary - which person is expected to be a judge and what guarantees and development opportunities should be offered in order to fill the large number of judicial positions that will be vacant in the coming years and ensure high-quality administration of justice.

Evert Nõlv, founder and CEO of ExtendLaw OÜ and creator of a legal technology application xLaw, participated at the Plenary Assembly of Judges in the panel discussion "What do we offer to the judge, including the work organization of courts and judges in the near and far perspective?". It was discussed how standardization, automation and the use of artificial intelligence could simplify the judge's work.
The legal technology application xLaw has been in use in all Estonian courts since 2018.
